Over 1,000 patients, relatives, staff and supporters attended the 38th annual Harefield fun run on Sunday, with 762 people (including dogs) taking part in a running or walking challenge. Approximately 30 of our heart and lung transplant patients also joined in the day, which fittingly marked the end of Organ Donation Week. So far they have raised over than £43,000!
After the race, the family day was in full swing with arts and crafts stalls, food vans, hair braiding, face painting and performances from Singing for Breathing and local dance group, Aiming High.
All proceeds from this year’s Fun Run will go towards Transforming Your Care, helping to implement a new electronic observations system at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. This allows nurses to spend more time at a patient's bedside and automatically alerts doctors if needed.
