Chilterns Gateway Club

The Gateway Club first opened in 1966 for adults with a learning disability and is based at Chiltern Youth Centre in Chiltern Avenue Amersham. The club is open on a Thursday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm and also tries to organise numerous activities throughout the year. Every year, volunteers give over 4,000 hours of their time without payment or claiming expenses.

Included in the activities at the Club and at weekends are:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Disco
  • Pool table and Darts
  • Ten Pin Bowling
  • Visits to places of interest

Every year the Club organises a holiday for about 40 of the members. So far, the Club has organised a total of 51 holidays! These holidays are financed through payments by members of the Club, fundraising and donations. For a few years, Grant & Stone have been helping the club as much as possible to make these trips possible for the young adults.

In 2010 the Club was awarded the accolade of Winner of the Group Award from Chiltern District Council – an award the members and supporters of the Club are extremely proud.
